TYPES OF BIFOCALS

CURVED TOP BIFOCAL:

This is the only lens that can be thinned down from 1.50-1.74. To be specific, it can go from1.50,1.6,1.67 & 1.74 index. A curved top bifocal has a semi-circular segment for near vision at the bottom of the lens.

Advantages:

Aesthetic Appeal: The curved shape blends more smoothly with the main lens, making the bifocal less noticeable.
Comfort: The gradual transition between the distance and near vision areas can be more comfortable for some wearers.
Ease of Adjustment: The rounded segment can provide a more natural feel when switching focus from distance to near vision.

 D-SEGMENT BIFOCAL:

The D-segment bifocal comes in a 1.50, 1.6 & 1.67 index.
This bifocal lens comes in a D28, D35 & D45 lens. So, for customers who want a wider/bigger field of vision when reading can go for the D35 or D45.
The D is the shape of the reading lens and the number next to it is the reading lens width measured in millimetres. A straight top bifocal, also known as a flat-top or D-segment bifocal, has a D-shaped segment for near vision at the bottom of the lens with the flat edge on top.

Advantages:

Wider Reading Area: Provides a broader near-vision zone for reading or detailed work.
Clear Demarcation: The distinct separation between distance and near vision areas makes it easy to switch focus.
Versatility: Ideal for activities that require frequent shifts between distance and near vision.

ROUND-SEGMENT BIFOCAL:

This lens only comes in a 1.50 index. This lens cannot be thinned down.
These come in R22, R24, R28 & R38 near vision sizes, so for customers who prefer a widefield of vision when reading have options. The R stands for round and the number next to it represents the width of the reading lens. A round-segment bifocal lens features a rounded, semi-circular segment at the bottom of the lens for near vision correction.

Advantages:

Less Noticeable: The curved shape of the segment blends smoothly with the main lens, making it less noticeable.
Comfortable Transition: Provides a gradual transition between the distance and near vision areas, which some users find more comfortable.
Aesthetic Appeal: The round segment can be more visually appealing compared to other bifocal designs.
